Being an atheist, I did not want to mess up my life with religious beliefs.
An atheist is one who does not believe in the existence of God and other gods, thus a rejection of religion since religion is the belief in the existence of spiritual beings. Some are very strong in such belief whilst others are not so strong in their belief. Reasons for being an atheist may also vary from person to person; making the road to atheism a personal or individual one.
Atheists must feel awkward denying something which is inside of them, telling them to acknowledge it. The case of one atheist who argued till it got to a time where her arguments simply did not make sense, is a case in point. Her followers deserted her.
An atheist can be open to attacks by the enemy who even acknowledges the Supreme Being. Indeed his glory is all around us to see. Ps 19:1. ‘The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands.’
It is normal for even a person who is not born again to acknowledge there is God, and to pray and sing praises to Him.
So you can imagine what a person will go through denying this reality.
They interestingly think people who are evangelical are deluded or deceived by their faith.

How does a person become an atheist?
- Through life’s experiences
- Influences from childhood
- Ignorance of other religions
- Disillusionment about church
- Unbelief in the Bible
- Seemingly endless world problems
- Through science
How do atheists start getting back to God
- When things go wrong in their lives
- Through researching
- A Simple conviction of sin
- A Simple but strong conviction of the truth
- Being supernaturally made open to the divine
- A gospel song or hymn
Thus, God reveals Himself to people through
- A sudden revelation of truth
- Directly speaking to a person
- Dreams
- Hardships
God has his own way of drawing people to himself – sometimes through an awareness that has been there all along.
As Christians, being open about our faith in the Lord Christ will impact the lives of others around us. Let them see and think, if not say that, ‘Christians love talking about Jesus’, and let God ‘mess up’ their happy lives. It can also lead them to us for answers to their questions when the need arises.
